President Correa asks Rodas explanations on Duran Barba
President Rafael Correa has requested explanations from the mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, about his relationship with political consultant Jaime Duran Barba, whom he described as a “mercenary of politics.”
Duran Barba, advisor to the Argentine president Mauricio Macri, said in “La Hora Machiavelli” program hosted by journalist Diego Dillenberger, in Buenos Aires, that the current mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, whose campaign was advised by him, is “a guy who barely knew Quito” and who defeated former mayor Augusto Barrera, despite being “a great mayor.”
I think that the country deserves an explanation, because in addition, Rodas always denied he was advised by Duran Barba,” said Correa during his weekly address, on Saturday, March 26. “And there are inaccuracies (referring to the statements of Duran Barba to a television channel in Buenos Aires): it´s not that Rodas had no money, it was the largest right-wing coalition of parties in the history of this country, even at national level, hence we noticed that this conservative restoration had a lot of money, since an impressive coalition that had not even been seen at the presidential level, had Mexican advisers, even from abroad.
