President Correa defends the tax reform
President Rafael Correa defended the draft Organic Law for the Balance of Public Finances, the same he sent last night, Wednesday 30 March 2016, to the National Assembly. This seeks to correct the mistakes of other legal bodies and stop the “abuses in certain exemptions and benefits some groups had.”
He said this upon his arrival at the headquarters of Alianza Pais, in northern Quito, where he met with the board of the movement to organize the march of 1 May, on Labor Day, and evaluate the ideological lectures carried out by the militancy, as a preparation for the elections of 2017. the meeting was also attended by Defense Minister and former Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino and national secretary of AP Doris Soliz.
The President considers it is unbelievable that the new foreign exchange outflow tax (ISD) becomes newspaper headlines. The bill states that the cash amount that a person can take out of the country without paying taxes is US $ 1 098. So far, 5% of the ISD is paid for amounts exceeding USD 11 170. Correa asked why a poor family is traveling with USD 10,000 in their pockets.
