President Daniel Noboa, through a Decree, instructed the Ministry of Energy to enable a 50% reduction in electricity consumption bills. This must be presented within a period of 20 days, as a compensation measure for the blackouts.
“The Ministry of Energy and Mines is required to analyze and execute the necessary actions in accordance with its powers so that the State grants compensation equivalent to a 50% reduction in favor of residential users of the public electric energy service,” says Decree 260. signed by Noboa this Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
With this, the Noboa Government seeks to compensate residential users for the losses caused by rationing schedules that reached up to 13 hours last April.
“Entities in the electricity sector will carry out the necessary steps to strictly comply with the provisions of this executive decree within a period of 20 days,” the Decree states.
