President of Ecuador: “If you want the power, we´ll see at the polls in 2017”
Rafael Correa, president of Ecuador, led a mass concentration in the Plaza Grande in Quito. There, he thanked the efforts of the militancy of Alianza País and claimed regarding the opposition marches that mobilized towards the Government Palace at that time. And he issued a challenge to the opponents of his regime: “If they want to capture the power, we´ll see at the polls in the 2017 elections.”
The president referred to the meeting of some leaders of the right in Guayaquil with destabilization purposes. He said that the meeting is to plan demonstrations in the coming weeks, “knowing that the vast majority will not stay with arms crossed (…) They will find us here defending the revolution.”
The head of state said he seeks nothing for him, “but everything for the people, that has merited to be free.” He noted they are patriots working for the people, for the middle class, for large majorities.” He asked the public that when “those in mourning, in their fancy, pride, frustration, shout out: ‘Out Correa, out,’ we shout: ‘Out coup leaders, out.'”
