President of the Assembly asks Baca for information related to assembly members
Ecuadornews:
The president of the National Assembly, Elizabeth Cabezas, and the heads of the caucus today sent a letter to the Attorney General, Dr. Carlos Baca Mancheno, in which they request that, in honor of transparency, refer all related information to the Legislative Branch with their public statements about the National Assembly and the assembly members.
This request is made in response to the statements that the prosecutor made in Radio Sucesos, on April 23, where he said he had “a list of assembly members who are frequent clients of the prosecutor’s office and who do politics in the halls of the prosecution”.
The attorney general has been summoned Thursday at 10:50 to appear before the Plenary of the Assembly in the framework of the political process against him.
According to the prosecutor, during the interview on Radio Sucesos, he also said that he will reveal to the country (tomorrow) why there was peace on the border with Colombia.
Baca will have three hours to present his defense arguments, then the interpellants, César Carrión of the CREO block and Henry Cucalón of the Social Christian Party (PSC), will have two hours to formulate their accusations, after which the prosecutor will again have an hour to reply to the assembly members and finally the censorship or not of the authority will be considered for full consideration.
