The stove of the presidential residence requires gas cylinders of 45 kilos (unsubsidized), according to monthly spending reports submitted by the Presidency to the Ministry of Finance.

According to records, dated September, the Presidency reported expenses related to the “supply of gas cylinders required by the presidential residence.” In that month there are payments registered by $ 966, and there are also August payments registered on behalf of the supplier Edison Benalcazar.

The supplier, contacted by this daily in November, explained that his contract is annual and sometimes he supplies up to 3 cylinders of 45 kilos every fortnight to the kitchen of the presidential residence.

The communications director of the Office of the President, Valeria Gonzalez, did not respond an interview request sent last June. The then head of the Secom, Fernando Alvarado, neither responded.
