Price of PCR tests will have a maximum of $ 45

The PCR tests will have a maximum cost of $ 45, as ordered by the Minister of Health on the afternoon of this Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Camilo Salinas signed a ministerial agreement to establish the value in the tests that detect covid-19.

The Minister of Health regulated the cost of tests to detect covid-19.

The State official signed the ministerial order that will be sent to the Official Registry for its publication and subsequent application throughout the national territory. This regulation will prevent the price of PCR tests from fluctuating in the market.

With the established value, no laboratory will be allowed to offer tests that exceed $ 45. This will also let users know the prices in advance.

In Ecuador, swabbing varied in cost, as it depended on the establishment. In some cases it was even charged more than $ 65. This is because their results are decisive for attending specific places, entering events or moving to other countries. 

The Minister of Health hopes that without exorbitant costs the population will access the tests to rule out or confirm the presence of the virus, which to date has infected 361,154 people. (I)
