Private companies shall hire more interns

Posted On 26 Jul 2017

Ecuadornews:

The number of interns hired by private enterprises in Ecuador has increased. The Ministry of Labor ordered that companies with more than 100 “permanent” workers should progressively hire a percentage of interns of not less than 4% of the number of their employees.

The change was introduced through the General Instruction of Internships Manual, which came into effect on July 10. The document states that during the first two years the recruitment of interns will remain at 2%. The third year will be 3% and the fourth, 4%. This percentage is higher than the 2% required by the previous legislation issued for the application of the Law for the promotion of youth work (I).
