Promotion plan for mango will be implemented until 2020
To promote the access of Ecuadorian mango to international markets, develop domestic demand and improve productivity are some of the actions to be taken jointly by the private sector and the Government to improve the competitiveness of the fruit until 2020.
This, after ministries of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries (Magap) and of Foreign Trade (MCE) signed an agreement with the Mango Ecuador Foundation to implement the Plan of Competitive Improvement of the Mango chain.
Alejandro Kaiser, Export Policies Coordinator of the MCE, said that the main destination of Ecuadorian fresh mango is America, whose demand is 85% of annual production (which is 13 million boxes).
He noted that from 2010 to 2015 the export of that variety grew in value and volume a 16% and 4% respectively.
