Prosecution Calls Gutemberg Vera

Paul Ponce, the district attorney of Guayas, called Gutemberg Vera to give his version in the current investigation against the deputy judge Juan Paredes on the sentence of EL UNIVERSO. Vera has to attend a hearing on May 10 at 09:30 (GMT).

This latest events and calling complies with the former judge Monica Encalada accusations against Vera and Paredes after she gave her statement last Wednesday for nine hours. On that day she ratified the threats and pressures she endured so that she was the one to set the first hearing.

Jaime Martinez, former technician of the Transitional Judicial Council (CJT for its Spanish acronym), said that he has evidence that points Vera as the true author of the sentence against EL UNIVERSO. Both versions will be studied by the head district attorney, Antonio Gagliardo who must return to his office next Tuesday. (AV)
