Prosecutor’s Office requests a date to file charges against Carrera

This October 25, 2023, the State Attorney General’s Office requested that the time and date be set to file charges against Danilo Carrera, Hernán Luque and five other people in the Encuentro Case.
Through a statement, the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that indications of criminal responsibility for the crime of organized crime were determined.
The others investigated are: Antonio Icaza, former manager of CNEL, Leonardo Cortázar, apparent political operator, Julio León, Jorge Orbe, and Roberto Bueno, former CNEL official.
Teleamazonas reports that the Encuentro Case involves servants, former officials and figures close to the Government of President Guillermo Lasso.
This is an apparent structure of corruption that would operate within the Government of Guillermo Lasso and would cover the electricity sector. The case came to light on January 9 through audio broadcast on the digital media La Posta.
