PSP did not receive forms for popular consultation process
The Patriotic Society Party (PSP) will not receive the forms it requested on October 29 to collect the necessary signatures for the holding of a popular consultation to citizens about indefinite reelection.
The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), argued that the party of the former President of the Republic, Lucio Gutiérrez, should have started the process in the Constitutional Court.
The organism cited in a statement the opinion of procedure of the Constitutional Court, which states: “Every draft amendment or constitutional reform must be sent to the Constitutional Court to indicate which of the procedures provided in the Constitution remain, specifying that when the initiative comes from the citizenry, it must be done before thebeginning to the collection of signatures for the respective convocation on a referendum.”
