Public Media rejects the violent acts carried out during the march called “Indignate Ecuador”, where followers of the former president, Rafael Correa, assaulted the Telediario team when they were doing their coverage work.
This attack is a violation of respect, liberties and tolerance, and shows that a few want to return to the past, to aggression and to the lack of freedom of expression. The Ecuador Tv team was hit and thrown stones at, even trying to steal the video camera.
Other journalistic teams were also violated by the protesters. When violence characterizes a collective, it must receive the rejection of society in general. The Public Media now lives in an environment of democracy and citizenship. Gone are the days when they were used as propaganda and government media. As every day, we ratify our commitment to work in the midst of the dialogue, peace and openness that characterize the Ecuador we have today. (I)
