‘Pura’, a play against gender violence
Director Nathalie El Ghoul will present next June in ‘La fabrica’, located in central Urdesa, ‘Pura’, a play that tries to show the hidden gender violence, which is taken as normal within our society, and will be a fusion of contemporary dance and theatre.
The idea of this work that exposes the demonstrations in which gender violence is present, was born out of a story that traveled around world on some breast implants that were carcinogenic, because the photo illustrating the news showed a few French Doctors dumping hundreds of silicone in a courtyard.
“This made me react and realize how materialized and stereotyped is the female gender and all requirements that women must meet, and so I decided to make `Pura´,” says Nathalie, who defines the presentation as “aggressive, strong and with a clear message “.
The scenes show different situations of everyday life, for example a wedding, the first time of a woman, a rape, a surgical operation, among others.
There will be four artists on stage, but all are leading roles, because they contribute with experiences, according to the Director. The dancers are: Zully Guaman, Sofía Carlo, Estefania Solorzano and Anibal Paez (production assistant).
Tickets are now on sale at the Academy, located in Guayacanes and second streets, $10 for adults and $5 for students, and presentations will take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 20:00 and Sundays at 19:00, from June 21 to July 14.
