Queen Elizabeth II Receives Olympic Torch

Former Netball player, Gina MacGregor, and Queen Elizabeth II
17 days to the opening of the Olympic Games of London 2012, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, today welcomed the Olympic torch in Windsor Castle, in the English county of Berkshire.
Accompanied by President of the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG), Sebastian Coe, the Queen and her husband watched as the Olympic delegation came to the castle.
Gina MacGregor, 74 years, former “netball” player, was in charge of carrying the flame in one of the most significant moments of its journey through the UK.
On a rainy day in central England, the former player carried the torch to the entrance and into the castle, where Elizabeth II and Prince Philip expected her with folded umbrellas in hand. (MZ)
