Rafael Correa: CELAC-China relationship could improve an “unfair world order”
President Rafael Correa assured on Friday, January 9 in Shanghai, that the relationship between China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), formally brought closer this week in Beijing, is “historic” and can help to improve an “unfair world order.”
“The CELAC-China relationship goes far beyond the funding (by China, of development projects in the region), and the commercial,” he said, because “together we can make a difference in a very unfair world order,” through the UN and multilateral bodies: “the expectations are extremely high,” he said.
He said he is optimistic about the possibilities this collaboration opens, because “together we can have a big impact in a world order that is not only unfair, is immoral: everything is in the hands of big financial capital.”
