“Rafael Correa will end up being a candidate,” says Lourdes Tibán
Assemblywoman of the Pachakutik party, Lourdes Tiban, when commenting on the proposal of President Rafael Correa to include a transitional provision to constitutional amendments that excludes those legislators who have served two terms in office from the elections of 2017, that “the only person concerned is Rafael Korea, the only one interested in reelection in 2017 is Rafael Correa, the only interested in changing the constitution to govern until his body can no longer take it is called Rafael Correa.”
Tibán claimed that the CONAIE decided yesterday not to reelection in 2017, 2021 or 2050. “Indefinite reelection is not good according to democratic principles. We state that more than two terms do not make anybody any good.”
According to the legislator, reelection in 2021 is like saying: “Now in 2017 I’m not going to let you rape me, but in 2021 I will be a big girl, you can rape me.”
Thinking about a indefinite reelection from 2021, once Correa returns to power is, in the words of Tiban, human misery in politics because he is thinking in himself and not Ecuadorians.”
However, Tiban believes that “Rafael Correa will end up being a candidate, remember it.”
