Rajoy faces a possible ultimatum for alleged money laundering

Mariano Rajoy
After the controversial revelation made by the former treasurer of the Popular Party (PP), Luis Barcenas, which involved the current Prime Minister of Spain, Mariano Rajoy, for bonuses and an apparent pact offered by the PP to buy the silence of Barcenas, the Spanish newspapers are constantly writing explosives headlines.
Before the case, the opposition parties are forcing Rajoy to appear and be subject to public accountability through joint actions with the massive support of the public. However, Rajoy has refused to resign despite the scandal for allegedly receiving hundreds of thousands of Euros from a dubious fund managed, back then, by Barcenas.
Opposition leader of the Socialist Party, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, urged Rajoy to resign after newspaper El Mundo published transcripts of text messages allegedly sent by Barcenas before being imprisoned for supposedly hiding about 48 million Euros into secret accounts in Swiss banks.
