Reactions about Ecuadorian Victory over Portugal

After the historic victory of Ecuador over Portugal by 2-3 at the Afonso Henriques stadium in the city of Guimaraes, the international press was also present with its comments.

Spanish media “La Marca” reports that Ecuador shocked Portugal at home led by “the deadly duo integrated by Felipe Caicedo and Antonio Valencia.”

“Ecuadorians overshadowed the beautiful goal scored by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who could not celebrate his birthday in his best way,” says the media.

Meanwhile, Da Manha newspaper referred to Felipe Caicedo with a headline that states:

“The famous Caicedo, the author of Ecuador’s third goal, which brought the victory by 3-2 yesterday in Guimaraes.”

In the other hand, Ecuador’s coach Reinaldo Rueda said during a press conference, that the victory in Guimaraes “is a result that strengthens us to continue searching the Brazilian World Cup qualifying.”

The Tricolor made history, beating a rival who for thirty years had not lost at home against South American rivals, and showed everyone the team has possibilities to qualify for the World Cup Brazil 2014.

The dynamics of the South Americans surprised the Europeans, who did not find a way to overcome the area set by Reinaldo Rueda. The Tri didin’t messed up and began to undress the defensive limitations of its opponent.
