About 200 people dead and 400 injured was the balance left by the attack on April 15 and 16 by the South Sudanese rebels in the city of Bentiu.
Thus denounced today the United Nations mission, UNMISS, established in that country. The report provides that among the dead are South Sudanese and foreigners.
In the Kali-Ballee mosque, where many civilians had sought refuge, the rebels executed people based on ethnicity and nationality. The mode of operation is equated to that adopted in a Catholic church and in the empty complex of the World Food Programme.
In their note, the UN mission also denounced calls by some rebel leaders on local radio to incite violence, and requested to investigate the committed crimes.
