Reform proposes that Claro and Movistar allocate 12% of its profits to the state
Claro and Movistar would be the two mobile phone companies that according to the amendment of the Telecommunications Law would be required to pay 3% of their profits to their workers and 12% to the state, said yesterday Jaime Guerrero, Minister of Telecommunications.
Guerrero explained that the two mobile phone companies generated a $ 130 million profit in 2013, which were distributed among 4,700 employees.
“I think we have to refine the project a bit … I think it should be telecommunication companies that use radio spectrum, we will ask the refinement of the issue”, said the authority.
This law should go into effect from next year, with the profits generated this year.
Today, the Council on Legislative Administration of the assembly (CAL for its Spanish acronym) will meet to qualify the reform and send it to one of the specialized committees.
