Beneficiaries of the Permanent Party Fund would rise, for now, from six -to whom $ 7,058,355.60 were distributed this year,- to 150 groups.

Yesterday, the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) processed in the first debate the draft reform of the Code of Democracy. The final text will be approved tomorrow. It will then go to the Assembly.

How the new distribution of the Fund would be done? 40% would go to national organizations in equal parts; 25% in proportion to the national vote; 20% for provincial, cantonal and parochial vote; and 15% for the Institute of Democracy. This was explained by the president of the electoral body, Juan Pablo Pozo.

National organizations would suffer a little cut: they currently receive a 50% in equal shares and 35% proportional to the vote.

If the reform is approved, local organizations will receive state allocations when they obtain 4% of the valid votes in two consecutive multi-person elections, in their respective jurisdiction.

But the fate of the resources will not change: these will be used for training, publications, training, research and institutional functioning. As the Constitution states.
