Report of military insurance reforms will be ready this week
Posted On 24 Aug 2016

Although the date is not yet defined, the Committee on the Rights of the Workers of the Assembly expects to approve this week the report for the first debate of the bill to reform the social security laws of the Armed Forces and the National Police, proposed by President Rafael Correa.
This was reported yesterday by AP legislator and member of this board Fausto Cayambe, who said that the proposals of the retired military are being assessed; such as including a transitional regime to allow, after the articles are approved, that a military can retire after 25 years of service, and no longer after 20 years, among other subjects.
Meanwhile, the government newspaper El Telegrafo, yesterday published an editorial, written by Rafael Correa, entitled ‘military social security once again,’ in which he argued that the reforms “will not be filed” if there is no consensus in their discussion, as raised by commander of the Land Forces Luis Castro on August 10.
