Rescuers who died in Buenos Aires get last goodbye
Hundreds of people this Thursday gave a final goodbye to the nine members of the emergency teams who died last Wednesday.
The deaths occurred during the extinction of a fire in a warehouse located in the neighbourhood of Barracas in the Argentine capital when one of the walls of the burning building collapsed over the emergency team.
Family, friends and colleagues of the six dead firefighters approached their Federal Police headquarters and also wakes were organized at the headquarters of the volunteer firefighters and in the civil defense offices, which lost two members.
Jorge Capitanich, Argentine cabinet chief highlighted the “professionalism and heroic courage shown ” by the nine rescuers dead in the incident.
For its part, the government declared two days of national mourning.
