Retired military yesterday staged a sit-in outside the Ministry of Defense in support of the Institute of Social Security of the Armed Forces (ISSFA), which is required to return $ 38 million from the sale of 220 hectares of the Samanes Park.
Demonstrators carried posters with the face of Minister Fernando Cordero, who is accused of being an “enemy” of the Armed Forces.
A group of government supporters arrived before the pensioners and stood at the door of the building. This provoked verbal sparring and shoving; but the military gradually managed that protesters leave the place.
The Attorney Office ordered the Ministry of Environment (MAE) and the ISSFA to rectify the contract of sale of 66 land lots.
