Hugo Chavez returns to Venezuela

Venezuela‘s President Hugo Chavez returned unexpectedly last Monday morning (02:30 am) to continue his medical treatment and sparked the celebration of his supporters.

However, the lack of information about his disease does not clarify whether he arrived to assume his new mandate, which won in the elections in October or to start a process for new elections with the vice president Nicolas Maduro as a presidential candidate.

Political analysts suggest that due to the short term nothing will change, while the Venezuelan opposition continues to question who makes decisions for the whole country. Chavistas high officials state that that President Chavez was always in command.

Chavez wrote on his Twitter account: “We have come back to the Venezuelan homeland. Thank you, God! Thank you, dear people! Here we continue the treatment.” The president is currently admitted in the Military Hospital, which is heavily guarded by the Honor Guard and the Bolivarian National Police.
