This morning several assembly members and officials from Alianza País will separate from the party because they disagree with the referendum questions written by the Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa.
“Ruptura de los 25” will formalize the announcement at a press conference that will be held this morning. Maria Paula Romo, Norman Wray and the Secretary of Transparency Juan Sebastián Roldán are some of the important names that will split up from the party.
The political party “Ruptura de los 25” was founded in 2004, its name is a tribute to the 25 years of democracy return in Ecuador; they group is reminded because they supported the “Outlaws” protests which ended the government of the Former President Lucio Gutiérrez.
The group entered the electoral life as part of a coalition of political movements that founded the political party PAIS in 2006 and it was one of the main drivers of Correa’s political process, called the Civic Revolution.
