Samanes lands were intended for national defense, Correa says now
The president added a new element in the dispute with the Institute of Social Security of the Armed Forces (ISSFA) for the negotiation of the lands of the current Samanes park in Guayaquil.
“What is the ISSFA doing with the lands that were intended for national Defense?” wrote Correa yesterday in his Twitter account, at 11:31.
These lands, before being transferred to the Ministry of Environment, were intended for the construction of a housing complex for the military. Now it is a public park.
Correa insisted in his criticism of a possible lawsuit filed by the the ISSFA to recover the $ 41 million that were debited by the Government.
According to the president, even if a private contractor gets paid more, _that amount will be deducted from the next invoice. Therefore, he said, the argument that a trial is needed to recover the money is something “pettifogging.”
