Sanchez Aguilar Theater Presents Uruguayan Play “Antígona Oriental”

Sanchez Aguilar Theater, prepares for his next play Antígona Oriental, from Uruguay on 12th and 13th September at 20h30.

Directed by Volker Lösch, Antígona Oriental tells part of the Uruguay suffered political crimes during the military dictatorship but based on the myth of Antigone. The female chorus is comprised entirely of former political prisoners, daughters and exiled from this dictatorship, whose stories make up part of the show.

This work has traces of classical tragedy and testimonial theater, exhibits and the Greek myth about Sophocles treated by one of the conflicts of Uruguayan society today and it does so from the perspective of a provocative aesthetic that continues to challenge and open the scene at all possible dialogues.
