Ecuador received an international seal that endorses it as a safe destination to visit. It is the ‘Save Travel’ awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the world’s largest private tourism organization.
Countries like Egypt, Slovenia, Ukraine are some of the destinations in the world that have this seal, the first in terms of safety and hygiene. The distinction guarantees that global standardized protocols are followed in these places so that travelers can experience a safe experience.
After a month of the application, the decision, as explained by the Minister of Tourism, Rosi Prado, is due to the development of 19 biosafety protocols that are already applied at the national level and hand in hand with the authorization of the National Emergency Operations Committee of abolish mandatory preventive isolation for travelers who bring a negative PCR test.
“Save travel helps us to tell the whole world that Ecuador is one of the Latin American countries that is open, that is concerned and that there is a commitment from the entire tourism sector to do things well, to comply with all the biosafety protocols, to make the visitor who comes to any establishment feel that they are being cared for, not only with the warmth that characterizes all Ecuadorians, but with the quality and safety that it deserves in these difficult times, “he said.
Norman Bock, Executive President of the Quito Metropolitan Hotels Association said that the news is encouraging. Although this seal does not require an audit like others, it considers that any endorsement of this type is important to attract potential visitors.
With the Save Travel seal, Ecuador aims to capture the interest of the international market. But to strengthen local tourism, according to Bock, the National COE must analyze the current restrictions on mobility.
“The fact that only certain plates can circulate on weekends greatly restricts people from going out around the cities, visiting their family and eating in a restaurant. Of course, it is necessary for citizens to contribute with responsibility. Beyond the provisions or alternatives proposed by the Government, it is necessary that people comply and do their part ”, emphasized the hotel representative. (I)
