SECOM asks rectification to the Argentine media regarding the case of the murdered girls in Montañita

The Ecuadorian Communication Secretary (SECOM) made public a letter in which they demand a rectification to the Argentine daily Eldiario24.com, who published false information regarding the case of the two dead girls murdered in Montañita, Ecuador. SECOM affirms that the Eldiario24.com did not perform a proper journalistic investigation.
In a letter sent to Rafael Bernabé Alonso, the newspaper director, SECOM complained that the daily published a supposed testimony from an Ecuadorian officer, in which it was stated that the two murdered Argentines were seen at the beach, “stoned and wearing a thong”.

Eldiario24.com published the news, citing Rebeca Paladines, a supposedly Ecuadorian officer. SECOM claims that there is no Ecuadorian officer in the government with that name, according to official records. (I)
