Sectional Elections of 2013 already has 61 groups registered

61 national and provincial organizations were recorded last Friday at the National Electoral Council (CNE), which has determined the next July 23 as the deadline for political parties and movements to register.

Political groups that want to participate in the sectionals February 23, 2014, must submit at least 175,000 signatures of support (1.5% of the electoral registry).

On the other hand, the CNE is planning to make a flawless signature verification process, taking into count the eventualities such as the ones that occurred in July 2012, when the scandal broke of the alleged forgery of signatures delivered by several organizations for their re-registration.

“To avoid repeating the mistakes and certain malicious attitudes of 2012, we aim to give confidence to the public, so that the embarrassing facts in which political parties and movements questioned the system, does not happen again, that should be a thing of the past, “said CNE President Domingo Paredes.

CNE is carrying out simulations of signature verification processes.
