Selection of Judges for Ecuador Constitutional Court Begins on Thursday
Posted On 11 Jun 2012

Nine judges will be selected in the process that will begin on Thursday
The Qualifying Committee that will select the nine judges for the Constitutional Court (CC for its Spanish acronym) will begin on Thursday to review if the 27 candidates for the position meet the requirements.
The main feature of this process, led by the Citizen Participation Council (CPC for its Spanish acronym) is the lack of citizen participation itself, because the Executive, Legislative and Transparency functions suggested the candidates.
The president of the Qualification Commission, Pamela Martinez, said the selection process will respect gender equality and multiculturalism, but confirms that the selection will be based on “meritocracy“. (MZ)
