Senator is being investigated for ‘helping’ the Isaias brothers

U.S. Senator Bob Menéndez is being investigated by the Justice Department and the FBI for an alleged traffic of influences in favor of the Ecuadorian brothers William and Roberto Isaias, former owners of the closed Filanbanco, reported yesterday the website The Washington Free Beacon, which stated the NBC-NY chain as the source.

According to the media, the Isaias family, who were sentenced in Ecuador for embezzlement, would have delivered considerable donations to Menendez and the democratic party.
Federal authorities, added the site, are analyzing if Menendez violated the law to help the Isaias to remain in the United States, with the assistance of several officials to whom he asked for special considerations to the Isaias brothers. He would have also sent letters and made calls to the homeland security and State departments.
