Senescyt will manage the university scholarships fund
The government will directly manage the allocation of scholarships for cofinanced universities, both for undergraduate and graduate studies, for which it will create a specific fund, announced yesterday President Rafael Correa, during his weekly address, boradcast from Santa Elena.
Currently, this task is performed by universities with state funds. For Correa, his proposal “is more useful, fair and efficient,” and will be extended to the entire country and not just for the students of Quito.
“We will withdraw all that money, we will make a single scholarship fund for graduate studies, also for cofinanced undergraduate studies, as long as the costs are reasonable and in the case of graduate studies relevant.” The parameters of the scholarships will be determined by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Senescyt).
