Senior managers of Vatican Bank resigned from their positions
Posted On 02 Jul 2013
After the arrest of Bishop Nunzio Scarano, accused of conspiring to enter clandestinely to Italy about $ 26 million from Switzerland through the Vatican Bank, a statement was released revealing the resignation of Paolo Cipriani and Massimo Tulli, director and deputy of this financial entity.
Scarano, who held an important accounting position in the financial management of the Vatican, gave statements yesterday before magistrates and rejected all accusations against him. According to his lawyers, he requested the house arrest.
This scandal has fueled the suspicions about the operations of the Vatican bank, known as the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR), investigated for corruption from several years by the Italian courts.
