Sercop requested the investigation of 26 contracts for medicines
A pharmaceutical company as a legal person and its owner, as a natural person, would have participated at the same time in medicine supply tenders of the public sector. Although this is considered a bad practice of participation and award of suppliers, 26 contracts worth $ 4.9 million were awarded to this company.
That was the complaint made yesterday by Santiago Vazquez, director of the Public Procurement Service (Sercop), before the Superintendency of Market Power Control, so an investigation can be carried out.
Vazquez explained, without providing the name of the supplier, that this had participated as a natural person and also as a legal person, in 2014 and 2015, during the award of contracts worth $ 4.9 million. He explained that this pretended to compete against itself, so the award could be considered illegal.
He explained that this person and the company were detected, in 13 processes, without other bidders. The proof would be a match in the tax address, business addresses and computer IP codes. (I)
