Several dead in a tour to the Colta Lagoon

Rescue agencies ECU911 confirmed that four children and an adult woman, who were part of a religious group, died yesterday in the waters of the Lagoon of Colta.

Firefighters of Colta, received the notice at about 13:30, of the sinking of a boat with 25 tourists in the lagoon.

The staff of the national police (GOE), firemen, Red Cross and members of the national Secretary of risk management arrived o the site and checked the sinking of the vessel, then proceeded to rescue 11 victims who were trapped in the boat. Of these, 7 are injured, and  5 fatalities.

The company responsible for selling tickets to tourists to travel by boat in the lagoon of Colta is being detained for further investigations.
