Small associatedbanana growers will have an export quota of 15%
Ecuadorian small banana farmers will benefit from the 15% purchase compulsory quota by exporters if they are part of associations legally registered.
The Ministerial Agreement 016 of January 21, 2016 favors, as authorities indicated, 1,000 small and medium unionized banana growers in the provinces of El Oro, Guayas and Los Rios.
Pedro Vasquez, manager of Banavih along with active members Eduardo Morocho Calero, Jorge Suarez, Gustavo Novillo, Noemi Capa, Renato Herrera, among others, defended the validity of the agreement late last year that set the minimum price of the 22XU box at $ 6.16 for 2016, based on the previous consensus reached between producers and exporters.
