Snowden seeks renewal of temporary political asylum in Russia
Anatoli Kucherena, legal advisor to former CIA analyst Edward Snowden, today announced that he has applied for renewal of the temporary political asylum for his client in Russia, where Snowden arrived on June 23, 2013 from Hong Kong.
“Edward still remains in Russia and we have prepared and submitted a package of documents asking for the permission of a temporary political asylum for him,” ” Kucherena told the LifeNews TV channel.
Snowden’s asylum expires tomorrow, August 1. Former analyst is claimed by Washington for revealing a massive web of espionage plan of American secret services.
“We hope that the issue will be resolved today or tomorrow. If not resolved, we will clarify the situation,” Kucherena said.
According to the legal advisor, the Federal Migration Service (FMS) has the last word, whose spokesman declined today to comment on this case, arguing that it is confidential information.
