In central Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, a large truck bomb exploded this Tuesday morning. The attack killed more than 60 people, among the deceased there were the corpses of students and their parents who were registering for scholarships to study in Turkey.

Local health officials informed that 65 people have died and many more are badly wounded. Several hospitals are already full of victims of Somalia’s famine. Witnesses stated that the bomber was driving a big truck piled with scrap metal to conceal the explosives.

According to news agencies, the Al Shabab militant group claimed responsibility for the bombing in their website. The terrorist group controls most of southern Somalia, but they seem to be regrouping after many analysts stated that the group is a spent force, divided by internal conflicts and dwindling resources.
