Spanish Congress approved gauging for King Juan Carlos
The Plenary of the Congress yesterday endorsed the gauging of King Juan Carlos and part of the Royal Family in the midst of criticism from opposition groups for the prompt processing.
A very large majority of the Chamber (184 votes against 32) achieved a change in the law of the judiciary which serves for fast track to close the process of succession to the Crown and its impact on the abdicated King.
In particular, one of amendments states that will be considered immune, both civil proceedings such as criminal, the Kings who abdicate (now Juan Carlos), his consorts (Queen Sofia), the consorts of the King (Queen Letizia ) and the Princes of Asturias (currently Princess Leonor and her future husband).
The Spanish Senate will do the same in order to achieve the gauging in ten days before July 11.
