Standards for imports are increased
The Ecuadorian Institute for Standardisation (INEN) will issue 200 technical regulations with standards of quality for 2 thousand tariff subheadings until December 2014. Agustín Ortiz ,director of the entity, reported it.
That figure means 27% of the total of import subheadings registered by customs, 7.514 altogether. The official explained that the first step in this process will be to develop 3,000 additional regulations to the existing 3,300.
Minister of Industries Ramiro González, said that the Latin American countries have an average of 6,000. The main objective is to control the quality of imports, also it will regulate national producers with the same parameters.
Pablo Dávila, President of the Chamber of industries, has requested to considered more suitable terms to implement the new regulations.
