Switzerland wins 2-0 to Ecuador in Davis Cup

The triumphs of Stanislas Wawrinka over Emilio Gomez 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 and of Marco Chiudinelli (164°) over Julio Campozano (295°) in four sets, went ahead 2-0 to the Europeans, who could define the series tomorrow when they play the doubles.
Wawrinka, one of the top ten professional tennis defeated Emilio Gomez in three sets, but the Ecuadorian gave the Swiss a tough match despite the outcome was disputed points, generating hope that Ecuador will, before long, a representative of higher level. Emilio is the son of Andres Gomez, who was champion of Roland Garros (French Open) in 1990 and became fourth in the world.
Campozano took the first set against a harmless Chiudinelli, who finally reacted in the second and set the pace to define it for 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).
The series is a qualification to stay in the World Group Davis Cup that continues this Saturday in the doubles match between Roberto Quiroz (703 °) and Gonzalo Escobar (858 °) who will face Wawrinka and Chiudinelli. In the meantime, on Sunday the singles crossings will be: Campozano against Wawrinka in the first round, and Gomez against Chiudinelli in the fifth point.
