Syria faces potential international attacks, Correa defends dialogue
On Tuesday, CNN reported a limited attack on Syria, which would only last a few days. It is planned to use guided missiles and will come in two waves, so the U.S. and its allies can assess the effectiveness of their operations.
U.S. government sources said on CNN that the attack will target military targets forces loyal to the Syrian regime leader Bashar al-Assad, as “punishment” for using chemical weapons on a large scale in neighborhoods on the outskirts of the capital Damascus, the terrible event occurred on Wednesday August 21.
This controversial attack will be carried out through missile type ‘Tomahawk’ to that will be launched from destroyers and submarines in the Mediterranean Sea, as reported by “The New York Times” while adding that the missile attack would hit less than fifty strategic objectives.
The storage facilities that include chemical weapons are not among its objectives, fearing that it will cause an environmental disaster or humanitarian, but it will target artillery and command centers related to alleged chemical attacks.
Regarding this announcement, Ecuador did not hesitate to show their opposition to the U.S. decision on any possible armed attack against Syria and claimed that the only way to solve the conflict peacefully is through dialogue.
Correa said “we can not be naive, here I do not believe arbiters of right and wrong, even more powers known for their foreign policy (…) they have no moral standing to become arbiters of good and evil of the world.”
