The Ecuadorian Tamara Salazar and the Dominican Crismery Santana won the silver and bronze medals this Monday in the 87-kilogram category of weightlifting at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
The Latin American weightlifters were only surpassed by the Chinese Zhouyu Wang, who reaped the sixth gold of her country in the Tokyo-2020 weightlifting.
Salazar lifted a total of 263 kg (113 + 150) and Santana lifted 256 (116 + 140), a considerable distance from the 270 kg of Wang (120 + 150), champion of the 2018 and 2019 World Cups.
The Ecuadorian was solid in the test by not failing in any of the attempts in both modalities, being the only athlete in the competition to achieve it.
In this way Salazar gave Ecuador its second medal in the Tokyo 2020 weightlifting.
So far, Ecuador is in box 21 of the current Olympic Games with two gold medals (Richard Carapaz and Neisi Dajomes) and one silver (Tamara Salazar. (D)
