Teachers ensure that their funds are private and not of the State

Posted On 30 Jul 2014
fondosproAlianza PAIS (AP) insists that the Funds of the Teacher´s Staff belongs to the list of the 54 that received state money, arguing that when they obtained $ 60 million of additional severance payments, the 2% of that value was of the teachers and 1% of employer; ie the State.
But Maritza Yépez, from the Directory of the Teacher´s Staff Funds, said that 3% of these funds are private and come from contributions from teachers. And so, the next 22 and 23 August at the National Convention, members will be consulted on the body that administers the Fund.
Yépez also requested the project file and said that they will request a meeting with President Rafael Correa to submit their case.
Fausto Cayambe (AP) said that there is a legal backing that says that the Additional Severance Fund is composed of the monthly contribution from the 2% of the salary of teachers and 1% from the employer contribution. “If it does not have the State contribution, do not worry, calm down.”
