Twenty years later, the honor and glory are intact and the grief for the death of their former teammates in the Alto Cenepa, on January 26, 1995, too.

They met on the esplanade of the Civic Center Eloy Alfaro of Guayaquil, in the act for the 21 anniversary of the victory of the Ecuadorian army against the Peruvian military in the Cenepa.
“The war was unavoidable, in January 26, 1995 four combat teams, of 20 military each, were forced to evict Peruvian soldiers from a heliport they had built in Ecuadorian territory, in the Condor Range, specifically in the Alto Cenepa,” said Brigadier General Jaime Castillo, commander of the Second Division of the Freedom Army.
He was the host of the event, which was attended by the full height naval command, headed by Vice Admiral Angel Sarzosa, commander of Naval Operations and head of the I Naval Zone, and Colonel Galo Venegas, commander of the Combat Wing No. 22 of the Air Force.
