The crisis obliges artisans to innovate

Walking through the steep streets of the San Antonio de Ibarra parish offers a picturesque landscape. Carved wood in every corner, a trade that has passed from generation to generation. The economy of these craftsmen, however, has been hit and sales have dropped considerably, forcing them to look for alternatives to promote their creations.
The Internet has emerged as a savior table. This is recognized by Martha Terán, who says that to attract buyers, artisans have created websites to display their furniture and decorative works.
In this way, she says, they have contacted people from Central America, especially from Costa Rica and El Salvador, but also from European countries like Spain, where they work with a monastery (I).
