Posted On 07 Aug 2017

Ecuadornews:

On July 29th, 39 vessels of the Ecuadorian tuna fleet began the first of the two closure seasons, of 72 days each. The measure was resolved at the Ninety-second meeting of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (CIAT), held last month in Mexico.

The stoppage of tuna fishing vessels will culminate on October 8th. The second period will be from November 9 to January 19, 2018. These resolutions are taken to adopt balanced policies in favor of the natural resources and the industry,” said Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries (MAP) Katuska Drouet.
